Selection guide
Choose hand painted beads for your next project
Start with the design you want to feature, then compare its material, outside dimensions and opening with your actual project. This collection brings together decorated beads in round, shaped and 3D styles; the details belong to each model, rather than to the collection as a whole.
Separate the base, the pattern and the shape
A painted appearance describes the decoration, not the material underneath it. For acrylic options, FS19815 and FS19816 have acrylic bases. Check the material of other models individually; a similar color or motif does not establish the same base.
A raised detail and a three-dimensional bead shape are also different things. Compare the profile and thickness as well as the front view. “Hand painted,” “hand crafted” and “luxury” are not interchangeable specifications: the collection name alone does not establish how every bead body or surface was made, or a certified quality grade.
Check the opening before choosing the quantity
- Outside size
- A 16mm bead measurement describes its outside size, not a 16mm hole. For a shaped bead, compare height, width and thickness with the space available in the finished piece.
- Opening and direction
- Match the opening to the actual rod, cord or hardware that must pass through it. Check the path and direction too: a frame or two-hole design needs a different arrangement from a straight-through round bead. A front photograph alone cannot establish the opening.
- Clearance in the full assembly
- For hand painted beads for pens, check the complete bead-and-spacer stack against the usable rod length. Leave the cap and moving parts able to work, and check that raised decoration clears adjacent pieces. For keychains, check the cord or pin, the attachment and the direction the motif will face. For jewelry making, consider the weight of the whole piece and whether neighboring components can move without catching the decoration.
If a measurement or fit is unclear, send ZoeDIY the bead model, the intended rod or cord dimensions, and a photo of the proposed arrangement. We can help recheck outside size and openings with digital calipers and assess a specific combination; for pen inquiries, we can check the relevant pen model or an available store pen where applicable. This is a check for that combination, rather than a promise that every bead fits every pen.
Make the motif work in the finished piece
For pastel macaron hand painted beads, choose a supporting color from the main bead and keep the remaining accents simple. Lay out the arrangement before stringing: turn patterned faces toward the viewing side and check how they sit beside spacers or findings. Compare pattern edges and the area around the opening, not just the color in the center of the photograph.
For pairs, repeated motifs or a coordinated color scheme, send the model and describe what needs to match. ZoeDIY can assist with checking the actual pattern, color and orientation. Agree which differences matter to your design before ordering; that assistance does not guarantee identical pieces or a future batch match.
Keep a reference before repeating an order
- Record the exact model, color and pack option, then confirm what the selected pack contains.
- Try a reference piece in the actual arrangement. Check the facing direction, movement and clearance before repeating the design at a larger quantity.
- Keep an accepted sample and compare later pieces under the same light. Keep batches separate until you have compared them; group the closest matches if a set needs a coordinated appearance.
Use separate compartments to keep decorated faces from scraping against loose hardware. ZoeDIY checks quantity and visible condition before bagging and removes or replaces issues found at that stage; this is not a zero-defect guarantee. Pack quantities, availability and prices are shown on the current product options, so check those options again for a repeat order.
Care and finish questions
How should I clean a decorated bead?
ZoeDIY does not have one cleaning method for this whole collection. Before washing, soaking or applying a cleaner, identify the model and ask about its particular base and finish. Send the model and the substance or cleaning method you intend to use; do not treat advice for a wooden bead or another finish as confirmation for this one.
What if the color or decoration starts coming off?
Keep the affected bead separate and record the model, order, photos of the affected area, and what it contacted before the change appeared. Contact ZoeDIY with those details before trying to repaint or reseal it. A photo alone does not establish the cause, and this collection does not carry a blanket waterproof, abrasion-resistant or colorfastness promise.
